Waitlist
Secure your spot on the list
Some of our psychologists are briefly closed to new clients. If you’ve found someone who you’d like to work with, we’d love to hold a place on their list for you. We’ll be sure to let you know the moment a slot opens.
If you need support sooner. Abode does not offer a crisis service, so a waitlist isn’t the right route if you’re in immediate need and Abode is not best placed to support you if you’re at risk. If you need urgent or immediate support, please reach out to crisis services. In the UK, call 999 in an emergency or attend A&E, call 111 to locate your nearest NHS out of hours mental health service, or call the Samaritans on 116 123 (24/7) to speak to someone day or night.

A few things people often wonder before joining a waitlist.
How long is the wait, usually?
It varies by psychologist and time of year. You can typically expect to wait a few weeks, occasionally longer. Where possible, we will offer an expected timeline to help you to plan ahead. If you’d rather not wait, the matching service can suggest someone with space today.
Will you keep emailing me?
No. We only write when a slot opens with a psychologist you’ve chosen. You can come off the list at any time by replying to that email or contacting us.
Am I committed to anything by joining?
Not at all. Joining the list places no obligation on you. When we get in touch, you can accept the slot, ask for the next one, or step off the list entirely. We will be guided by your preferences.
Can I be on more than one waitlist?
Yes, you can select as many psychologists as you would like to. You’ll then be contacted whenever any of those psychologists has space next. When you take a slot with one, we’ll remove you from any others.
How long do you hold my details?
Six months, or until you ask us to remove them. If we haven’t been able to offer you a slot in that time, we’ll write to ask whether you’d like to stay on the list a little longer. Your details are handled in line with our privacy policy and seen only by our Clinical Directors.
