Our story
Therapy that feels like home
We brought together the rigour of evidence-based psychology and the warmth of a truly human space — so that exceptional therapy could feel less like a clinic, and more like being welcomed somewhere safe.
Why we exist
Abode began with a simple conviction: that exceptional psychological therapy shouldn’t feel clinical, complicated or out of reach.
Private therapy has long been difficult to access — hard to navigate, slow to begin, and rarely shaped around the realities of modern life. We set out to change that: to offer therapy that is genuinely effective and genuinely warm, delivered online, wherever you call home.
Everything we do is built around two beliefs that sit at the very heart of Abode — that therapy works best when it is grounded in evidence, and that it heals best when it is offered with warmth.
What we believe
The principles we’re built on
Grounded in evidence
Our psychologists draw on the approaches research shows work best — cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT), compassion-focused therapy (CFT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and trauma-focused therapies — so your care is as effective as it is kind.
Warm, never clinical
A safe, confidential and non-judgemental space where you can share what’s been going on at a pace that feels manageable. When it helps, your psychologist may gently nudge and challenge you towards the goals that matter to you.
Made to feel like home
We place real value on the therapeutic relationship. Our psychologists offer a comforting, emotionally-safe space — somewhere you can settle, be understood, and find your way forward.
Effortless to begin
Therapy should fit around a busy life, not the other way around. Sessions can be booked and accessed intuitively and promptly — thoughtful, modern care, almost at the tap of a button.
The people behind Abode
Founded by two psychologists who wanted better
Abode was created by Dr Samantha Adams and Dr Lizzie Woodward — clinical psychologists who came together to build the kind of service they’d want for their own friends, their families and, honestly, for themselves.
Their backgrounds in scientific research shaped a clear priority: therapy grounded in the approaches psychologists know work best. And their belief in the quiet power of the therapeutic relationship shaped everything else — a warm, comforting, emotionally-safe space you can truly feel at home in.
With warmth,

How it feels to work with us
We take pride in our psychologists’ warm, compassionate and non-judgemental approach to therapy.
We provide a safe and confidential space where you can share what’s been going on in your life, at a pace that feels manageable. At times, your psychologist may gently nudge and challenge you, to help you reach your therapy goals — supporting you to find comfort in the discomfort that meaningful personal therapy can bring.
“A space you can settle into — and slowly begin to feel at home.”
Beyond the therapy room
Sharing what we know, more widely
Alongside individual, couples and assessment work, our psychologists share their expertise beyond one-to-one therapy — bringing evidence-based psychological insight into the places people live and work.
